Matt Gaetz, Florida’s 1st district representative, has been wrapped up in controversy since early 2021 when accusations of his affair with a 17-year-old girl publicly came about. The well-known Donald Trump supporter looks like he’ll have to use a significant portion of his $700K net worth for the legal battle he’ll be facing.

The up-and-coming Republican politician is the son of Don Gaetz, a Grand Old Party legend that worked as a Florida State Senate member for at least a decade. The younger Gaetz made the news again in July when a comedian got escorted out of his and Marjorie Taylor Greene’s America First rally appearance.
