Green Bay Packers Cheerleaders
The Green Bay Packers cheerleaders, one of the first professional football teams to have a cheerleading squad, started in 1931. Initially, they used high school squads for their games, but they have advanced far beyond that. Also known as the Green Bay Packerettes, they were formed under the guidance of Packers coach Vince Lombardi.
They underwent several name changes over the years, including the Golden Girls and the Green Bay Sideliners, before disbanding in 1988. Since then, the Packers have used collegiate cheerleading squads from the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay and St. Norbert College during home games. This unique approach maintains the spirit of cheerleading in a community-oriented manner.
