Pilots Avoid This Airport
Gibraltar International Airport is one of the most dangerous airports in the world. It’s nestled between two heavily trafficked roads and is just 600 meters long, making it one of the shortest runways in the world. This means that planes have to take off and land quickly and make sharp turns to avoid running into the roads.
What’s even more dangerous is that the airport is located directly beneath the famous Rock of Gibraltar, a massive limestone peak that towers over the airport. So planes have to fly dangerously close to the peak before taking off or landing. It’s enough to make even the most experienced pilots break a sweat.
