The Journey Starts – 1975

When photographer Nicholas Nixon decided to start taking images of his wife and her sisters in 1975, we doubt he knew it would become such a massive project for everyone involved. Since then, the sisters have taken amazing images for the next 40 years, and we have to thank Nixon for making it happen.

In this first picture of the lot are all four siblings, with the oldest being twenty-five and the youngest fifteen at the time. The snap is quite iconic as it sets the tone for the next annual photography assignment for the family, which, as we’ll see, turned out to be incredible.
