“Diamonds are a girl’s best friend,” is the saying that almost everyone knows. What girl wouldn’t love to have a shiny diamond ring or a diamond necklace as part of her jewelry collection? Additionally, we know that diamonds are expensive, and purchasing them can be difficult, let alone insuring them, and treating them appropriately.
Yet, her life changed forever when what she thought was a fake diamond turned out to be something very different.
Her story begins in 1980 in London, England. In West London, a woman decided to stop by a car boot sale at the West Middlesex Hospital while she was having a perfectly normal day. Her attention was caught by a particularly large and pretty artificial diamond ring while she was there. The moment she laid eyes on the ring, she knew she had to have it.
Special Diamond
Despite the fact that this diamond was so old that it had been cut differently, when you looked at it with the right perspective, it still held its own beauty. This is because it was a real diamond and not an artificial piece of jewelry. Everybody knows that diamonds never go out of style. In the 19th century, this ring would have been just as valuable as it was today.
Diamonds never get too old! And this is also why diamonds tend to pass from generation to generation, from mom to daughter since forever. It doesn’t expire or go bad!
Why this story made it to the deadlines?
But why would you consider wearing a ring for your everyday activities to be strange? And why was it that a woman from Sotheby’s spoke about that in the news? It is pretty obvious that the ring that she chose to buy last week from the car boot sale was something special, and therefore that is primarily why she was on the news the other day, as well as the reason you are currently reading about the story. After all, the ring must have been made of crystal of that price!
Read on to find out the twist in the tale.
The Shock
She was completely astonished to discover that what she had been thinking was a normal ring for so many years was so much more than that. Testing revealed that this is not only a 26 carat diamond, but also a white cushion-shaped gem. She was surprised to learn that. She had actually bought a diamond ring at the car boot sale!
Not only that, but the testers also found that the precious jewel may have been created during the 19th century. Just by looking at it, how could they tell that the woman was utterly shocked? A procedure existed to determine the approximate age of a gem, and from that, they could tell hers was an old find. A huge surprise awaited the woman, she had no idea what was on her finger.
